Members' charter

Animal Health Australia is:

  • the community of industry and government representatives actively working together to ensure Australia's national animal health system delivers a competitive advantage and preferred market access for Australia's livestock industries

  • committed to fostering open and frank dialogue between Members to ensure equitable outcomes for the national animal health system

  • focussed on the risk based identification of national animal health system priorities and the engagement of all animal health system stakeholders in pursuing agreed priorities and outcomes

  • reliant on the willingness of all Members to participate and provide agreed funding and in-kind support for Animal Health Australia activities with a mutual obligation to effectively represent the interests of their industry or jurisdiction

  • driven by a desire to collectively improve the effectiveness of the national animal health system and to secure workable solutions for any issues that may impinge on that effectiveness

  • fostering an advocacy role for all Members, Board and Management in their respective roles as champions for the national animal health system in terms of its significance to the economy, the community and the Australian landscape

  • mindful of the inherent value of livestock as sentient animals in all considerations

  • aware of the corporate governance principles and responsibilities enshrined in the Constitution for all Members, the Board and Management

  • cognisant of the importance of ethics, trust, prudence, care and honesty in all its dealings and in doing so recognises the inherent value of its ongoing partnership.

Animal Health Australia's Members expect:

  • the Board of Animal Health Australia to set and monitor the implementation of the Company's strategic direction and to vary that direction as circumstance dictates

  • the Board to embrace Animal Health Australia's values and commitment to open and frank dialogue with all Members and stakeholders to ensure equitable outcomes in accordance with the Board's adopted codes of conduct

  • management and staff to similarly embrace the essence of this Charter in their day to day dealings with Members and stakeholders.
