To
contribute to the efficient operation of the National Animal Health System
through effective participation in the policy development and decision making
activities of Animal Health Committee (AHC) and the Consultative Committee on
Emergency Animal Diseases (CCEAD).
AHC formulates operational aspects of national animal health
policy. Other members are the Chief Veterinary Officers of each jurisdiction,
the manager of the Australian Animal Health Laboratory (AAHL), Biosecurity
Australia (BA) and Australian Quarrantine Inspection Service (AQIS). AHC is a
subcommittee of Primary Industry Health Committee (PIHC).
CCEAD is the technical advisory group that is convened
to consider response to actual and suspect incursions of emergency animal
disease (EAD) and advises the National Management Group (NMG) as to the
feasibility of eradication. Its
membership comprises relevant industry parties, jurisdictional CVOs and
AHA. The Australian CVO is the chair.
