The
purpose of this project is to contribute to an effective and efficient national
animal health laboratory network through representation on the Sub Committee on
Animal Health Laboratory Standards (SCAHLS), strategic planning and support for
development of laboratory standards.
Animal Health Australia
financially supports development and review of Australian and New Zealand Standard
Diagnostic Procedures (ANZSDPs) which provide national standardisation of tests
are conducted giving confidence in the accuracy and interpretation of test
results.
The company is
managing on behalf of SCAHLS, a review of the Australian National Quality
Assurance Program (ANQAP) - inter-laboratory proficiency testing.
Animal Health Australia is also represented on a DAFF committee examining how
best the national network of animal health laboratories should structured to
deliver diagnostic and related services in the next 10 years. A diagnostic capability strategy is a
component of the National Animal Health Strategy. This committee is also looking
at how to address the shortage of laboratory specialists.
