The National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) is Australia’s system for identifying and tracking livestock for food safety, biosecurity, market access and industry-related purposes.
To date, NLIS has implemented schemes into the cattle, sheep and goat industries. The pig industry is also currently developing a national identification and traceability system.
